Within the scope of the Gaziantep Transportation Master Plan (GUAP), the travel demands expected to emerge in the target year of the plan were evaluated in line with the upper and lower scale strategic decisions and plans, transportation investments and priorities to be realized were determined and basic planning decisions were made for the transportation and traffic system.
With GUAP, it is aimed to increase the comfort level of Gaziantep people in transportation, to evaluate urban mobility with an environmentalist approach, to produce solutions to macro and micro problems and to create sustainable solutions by using resources efficiently.
As the first step of the study, existing and new information was collected. As a result of the correspondence with the administration and related institutions, after the collection of the existing information, a total of 21,345 questionnaires and 57,888 data were created with a total of 21,345 questionnaires and 4 months of field studies in order to update the database and eliminate deficiencies.
The study was designed taking into consideration the transportation needs of the city center and the areas outside the center. In the city center (Şehitkâmil, Şahinbey, Oğuzeli) the present situation of the city was determined and “Demand Forecast Model” was developed. In addition, input to the model has been created by interpreting its relations with surrounding settlements. The transportation models for Gaziantep were calibrated using the information obtained from household surveys and traffic counts.
When the current situation and target year data are evaluated in Gaziantep; significant increases in socioeconomic data. The rapid increase in population and car ownership and the increase in the number of trips will have negative effects on urban transport. In order to minimize these problems, strategic decisions have been taken for the problems identified with the ”Trend Alternative kent related to urban transport.
23 alternative solutions for the rail system lines proposed under GUAP have been collected under 3 Basic Development Scenarios and tested by model. While creating scenarios, alternative solutions were considered comparable and it was aimed to evaluate the city as a whole. When the suggested lines in all alternatives are evaluated; The lines that bring the best solution out of the three scenarios have been selected considering the passenger values they carry and the main plan scenario has been established for Gaziantep.
Parallel to the developments envisaged in Gaziantep zoning plans, changes in parameters such as population, employment and number of students vary with the amount of transportation demand and the regions where the demand is directed. The Ana Transportation Master Plan ”investment decisions, which are proposed to be made accordingly, are planned as short (2016-2020), medium (2021-2025) and long (2026-2030) maturities every 5 years.
Within the scope of Transportation Master Plan, general policies and strategies have been determined on public transportation system, road infrastructure and traffic system, parking system, pedestrian and bicycle transportation, urban cargo transportation system, intercity and surrounding settlements, and institutional and legal structuring; solutions have been developed in line with these policies and strategies.
All the arrangements proposed within the scope of Gaziantep Transportation Master Plan are divided into stages as short, medium and long term periods and implementation programs are determined.
