Marmaray Sirkeci Shafts Detailed Design Projects

Marmaray Project, one of the most important projects in the world, is a railway designed according to the needs with its high capacity that does not pollute the environment by using electrical energy, designed to maintain the healthy urban life of Istanbul, to offer a modern city life and urban transportation opportunities to the citizens, to protect the natural historical features of the city.

Improvement of Gebze-Halkalı Suburban Lines and Marmaray Bosphorus Immersed Tube Tunnel Crossing For Metro was carried out to connect Halkalı on the European side and Gebze on the Asian side with an uninterrupted, modern and high-capacity commuter rail system. Marmaray was implemented by improving the Haydarpaşa-Gebze and Sirkeci-Halkalı suburban lines and connecting them with the Marmaray Tunnel.

The revised designs of Marmaray's 23-meter-diameter East and West Shafts were carried out simultaneously with the construction and the electrical, mechanical, ventilation, architectural and static projects were modeled in harmony and efforts were made to eliminate the problems that emerged during the construction. All the revisions of the shafts required due to construction have been integrated with the 3D finite element model and the most optimum design has been provided to guide the construction site. In addition to the shafts, the designs of the road approach retaining walls were also carried out simultaneously.

While preparing the projects, all the relevant specifications of Eurocode, ICE (Institute of Civil Engineers) Specifications for Piling and Embedded Retaining Wall Specification, Manual Of Contract Documents For Highway Works, Volume 1-2 , AASHTO, AASHTO-LRFD, ACI Standards has been used.
